It's definitely worth the money

I LOVE this little book! I speak only a little Italian and this is actually a great tool to learn conversational Italian; you can indeed understand the main plot of what's happening even if you are not fluent. I've had to re-read the stories to better understand but this is mostly for learning. The stories and fun with good humor and they have good little plots for a book of this type. It's definitely worth the money

This book is amazing .one of the most important aspects of successfully learning another language is feeling like you're making headway, and that you are achieving something. Motivation decreases over time without these feelings of accomplishments As such, this book was created with that knowledge.This book is nice, but my Italian is more advanced, the stories are way too short.

Great easy-to-make recipes!

The recipes in this book don't require that you purchase expensive, hard-to-find ingredients. I bought this book because I have never made my own skin/hair care or bath and body products, so I wanted to start with recipes that a novice could make successfully. I was not disappointed! The first recipe I tried, grape seed lotion, turned out great! I will be making many more body care products using the recipes in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about trying to make their own beauty products at home but doesn't know where to start. The author provides a description of the ingredients and equipment she uses which I found very useful. I was able to find the ingredients I needed at my local co-op, but any health food store should stock them or you can find them online. You should be able to buy beeswax from your local beekeeper. I now feel confident that I can make my own products at home, thanks to this book.

Great book. The ingredients and materials listed are very helpful, I also enjoy all the revised ingredient substitutions for her recipes. The fun facts and history were insightful and definitely make this whole book worth reading. The images have a classic feel in green and black and the natural recipes are easy and inspiring. Would definitely recommend!

A Must-Read (Especially for Introverts)

This book is best read after Mortimer Adler’s companion piece, How to Read a Book, which outlines the responsibilities and strategies needed to successfully engage in reading and writing. Similarly, in How to Speak, How to Listen Adler offers the same practical and direct approach to the reciprocal processes of speaking and listening. Adler focuses on building his own ethos throughout the book through a comprehensive overview of the art of rhetoric using real life examples and references to others’ work.

Adler takes us through the entire process, beginning with our deficits: communication pitfalls, educational gaps, and hubris. He distinguishes between different types of speeches, such as what he calls the “Sales Talk” or lectures in order to strategize for varied motivations for speaking. These chapters of the book are detailed and user-friendly for those in educational fields and beyond. This book is not about pedagogy; it is intended to be an academic instruction manual for the masses. Adler establishes this objective early on.

At the end of the book, Adler emphasizes the reciprocity of speaking and listening by connecting communication to our collective sense of humanity. Best way to teach preschoolers

LOVE THIS BOOK and it's accompanying preschool program! I used it with 8 of my children. It taught me how to be a good mom, and a fun mom. It gave me monthly objectives on how to focus and teach the individual concepts. For example: Joy of the Earth, Joy of the Body, Joy of Gratitude and Thanksgiving, Joy of Spontaneous Delight, Joy of Feelings. Preschool program had puppet shows on teaching all these things, art projects, sweet songs written especially for this program. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST PRESCHOOL PROGRAM, and I have looked at many, including Montessori.

A wonderful book for parents of pre-schoolers.

This book has truely helped me understand my two year old. I have learned to appreciate the simple joys he finds in his life, and I have learned to let him enjoy them. I read this book last week and have since put these principles into action. I have noticed a significant difference in everyone's attitudes.

This is one of my favourite parenting books, along with other books by the same authors. What I really like about it is that the book focuses on prevention and on how to raise children, not just what to do when there are problems. I highly recommend this book!
